Happy birthday to me!

I am 21 years old today. I know being 21 is a big deal to a lot of people in the States and other countries, but here, I was already able to do everything I wanted to at 18/19. *giggles*

My friends & I went to Grand Prix Kartways for go-karting and Go For Tea for drinks/snacks/food. Let me warn you: Your body will be very sore for a couple of days after go-karting. I'm writing this two days later and my back and shoulders are SUPER aching.
OUTFIT
Bowler hat: Forever 21 | Knit top: H&M | Shoes: (not shown) Aldo oxfords
Leggings: ASOS Petite Fishnet Leggings (sold out here) | Bracelets: (below) Forever 21

Mango slush <33 I didn't say "Very Mango Slush" so I didn't get the mango bits in it. :(

"teet ban ngau yook fan" (Canto) Basically a bowl of rice & some beef.
Long story short: I meant to order satay beef udon noodles.

Making a wish on the candle on the mango-chocolate cheesecake, courtesy of my boyfriend. It was sooo delishhh <33 Thank you : )

Cutest birthday card ever, illustrated by one of my best friends, @CandyCVicki.

Happy birthday to the lovely Lilli as well! ♥ We share the same birthday!

And thank you all in advance for the warm birthday wishes. : )

Men & scarves

[clicking on each image will bring you to its original source]

I prefer seeing monochromatic (as opposed to patterned) scarves on men, preferably the chunky knit kind. How the first gentleman styled his scarf looks better to me than the "thrown around the shoulders" look some of the others are sporting.

What's your opinion?

EDIT: I just realized the second pic is of a man holding a cigarette. Totally didn't notice, sorry! I'm usually careful when it comes to posting pics of people smoking on my blog because I don't endorse it. I only accidentally realized it when someone commented that these men are smoking (hot). hahaha : ) I'll try to be more careful next time!

Tutorial: Cheap, rusted silver?

Many of us girls own a few "cheap" silver pieces.  By "cheap", I mean ones from Forever 21, H&M, Aldo, etc. These are obviously considered "fake silver" and they rust so quickly and easily!  A simple way to remove rust from cheap silver is to use toothpaste. : ) Please don't use this method on your expensive pieces... -_-'
  1. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto your fingertip.
  2. Rub the toothpaste all over your silver gently.  You'll notice the rust coming off on your fingertips and you'll smell that disgusting "blood"/metal smell. Ick.
  3. Rinse the toothpaste off and VOILA! You've got brand new, shiny silver again. : )
I actually discovered this a few months ago, but didn't really have the chance to clean my earrings. Here are a couple of poor before/after pics of my Aldo earrings (taken from my Blackberry, sorry!).

For your other "better" silver, I recommend using baking soda. It really works! I tried this method out a few months ago, but didn't take any photos. Sorry!

  1. Line a bowl with aluminum foil (shiny side up).
  2. Put your tarnished silver into the bowl.
  3. Put a tablespoon of baking soda on top of the jewelry.
  4. Pour boiling water over it.
  5. Watch it fizzle and melt away the tarnish. ; )
You can find all of this on Google (like I did), but I just thought I should share it in case some people haven't thought of Googling it. :D

Oh and silver polisher always helps if you don't trust these "homemade" methods.

Hope this helps!

Why, hello there

Hairband: H&M | Heels: thrifted
Babydoll: Suzy Shier | Skirt: Zara
Ring: flea market in Mexico | Bracelets: H&M

I love re-discovering old outfit photos. : ) I miss that photo setting! I wish I could get it back but I added some new furniture to my room and that spot is taken! I think I have a good spot for outfit photos for the summer though. ; )

Can you believe I thrifted those adorable little pumps? They were brand new and I got them for $4 to $5! :D

Gucci Pre-Fall 2011

[images via Fashion Gone Rogue; modified by me]

Smart, sexy, and sophisticated.  I think every woman wants a piece from this collection. I need that first outfit, but I probably don't have the height to pull it off like that model.

Are you drooling over any of these pieces or would you rather pass?

A haul post!!

A combined haul post.. I haven't done one in a while! That's a good thing though because it means I didn't shop that much ;D

[Items aren't listed in the order I received them & all prices are in USD]

Elle (Fast Food and Fast Fashion) was kind enough to send me an early birthday present a few weeks ago when I asked if I could buy the follow ASOS dress from her since it wasn't the right size. I was so surprised that she sent me more than I had originally thought! A few Urban Decay pigments and the ever-so-popular Rock & Republic blush. Thank you, Elle <3 Your kindness and generosity will not be forgotten! Trust me :P

Above are the gifted goods. : ) Rock & Republic Pressed Blush in X-Rated (only "Shameless" is left here) and Urban Decay pigments. It will be fun experimenting with the pigments as I'm not makeup-savvy.  The colours are Rockstar (purple), Smog (brown), and Protest (green). Thanks so much, Elle!!

ASOS PETITE 2 in 1 Pussybow Jersey Dress $50.20 $28.69

I already own an ASOS dress in petite UK 4 (US 1), so I wasn't surprised that this dress fits me so well. I suck at tying bows so that part's gonna be a slight struggle for me. No worries! Practice makes perfect : ) The length is great on me and I have no complaints about this dress!

Seen on Elle and Jean.

ASOS really needs to make more apparel for their petite line! There are so many pieces I love from their regular line, but I've learned my lesson. Their regular UK 6 will always be big on me. :(

Cooperative Lattice Tunic $59.00 $19.99

To be honest, I was actually disappointed when I took this out of its package. It didn't look like it would go past my bum and it looked sort of boxy. My mind was blown when I put it on and it actually looked like how it looks on the model. Never judge a book by its cover? haha It's actually a little big on me, but I like the slouchy sweater look. : ) Good thing I tried it on! I wore it out within an hour of receiving the package! ^_^

I wore this with black leggings and leather boots the first time, but in the spring/summer, I'm so copying the way the model styled it. LOL Nobody's original these days and I'm not gonna try and be the first! :P

Sweet Heart Sunglasses $14.00

These weren't on sale, but I couldn't resist them for only $14. I've been wanting a red pair for a while. Plus, it had over 100 reviews! Most of which were great. ^_^ I already own a black pair, which I think is from Aldo.

I wasn't sure how this would look on me, as I've always been a "simple patterns" sort of person when it came to clothing & accessories. When I saw sale price vs. the original, I thought to myself, "Why not give it a shot?" All four reviews were positive anyway. You'll be seeing more animal print clothing & accessories on me in the future. : )

I do have photos of me wearing it, but you'll see it in an outfit post shortly!

KORS Michael Kors Stormy Rainboot

This is so weird. On Michael Kors's official site, it's listed as $125 USD. On the Browns site (where I purchased them, but in store), it's listed as $99.98 CAD, but $160 ORIGINAL. wtf? I mean, the US/CAN currencies aren't THAT different... lol

If you're looking for these boots in Toronto (& have small feet), you'll probably have no luck because I bought them about a month ago and even then I had a hard time looking for my size. The Yorkdale location had no sizes and I randomly went in the Scarborough Town Centre location one day and purchased the last pair. They even helped me locate it in other stores and only a handful had it!

There is about a 2" gap at the calf, but this really doesn't bother me because it's not noticeable since it spreads out to 1" in front and 1" behind. With jeans tucked in, this really isn't noticeable. You've seen me wear this MANY times, so I won't bore you with another photo.

WARNING: These boots will hurt like a b*tch for the first few weeks. TRUST ME. It was so painful to break in. More so for my right foot than my left. (I SWEAR my right foot is bigger...)

Cheap Monday TIGHT Original Unwashed Jeans $75.00 CAD $52.00 CAD

Reviewed & worn here, so I won't lengthen this post anymore with a repeat. : )

[images via H&M, but modified by me]

"Conscious collection is part of H&M's actions for a more sustainable fashion future."

I can't wait for H&M's spring collection! I'm loving the neutral colours, scallop details, and light, feminine pieces. Above are a few of my picks. You know where I'll be on April 14th!

ELF's matte top coat is pretty good for what it's worth! I recently did a swatch of it.

Breakfast 'n' Lunch

My boyfriend & I recently ate at Cora's for breakfast and Pixel 8 for lunch (on separate days). It was my first time at both of those places! Cora's is a large breakfast chain that can only be found in Canada and Pixel 8 is just a random Asian "lounge" place in Markham, Ontario (Bur Oak & Kennedy).

What a cute logo! (@ Cora's)

Boyfriend playing around with my G11's manual focus.

Boyfriend's Caffe Latte
I got a glass of grapefruit juice.

My Western omelette

Boyfriend's "Good Morning!"
(2 eggs any style w/sausage, bacon, ham, or bologna)

Boyfriend's chicken teriyaki rice @ Pixel 8

My Japanese udon noodles
It was the only udon dish there and I will not be ordering it again.

I'm more of an "udon" person. What about you? Ramen or udon noodles?
