Summer Lusting

I'm obsessed with skirts. They're more versatile than dresses and can be worn with a whole variety of tops. I can't wait for temperatures to go up again so that I can wear these outfits out! The striped skirt is one of the most flared ones I own, but I think it's super cute when paired with the right top and accessories. Quick tip: Wear a flared skirt with a fitted top or a loose top with fitted bottoms for balance.

It's always more exciting to dress for spring/summer. The recent "polar vortex" had me missing summer even more when I had to bundle up with extra layers. I don't remember a winter being this bad for years! You might've heard that parts of Toronto and the surrounding area were out of power for a week. My family was fortunate enough to live just outside of the outage borders, but I can't imagine how bad it was for those affected. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping warm during these cold months! I'm so jealous for those living in warm countries right now. :'(

UPDATE
I asked you guys to vote on which outfit you liked better on Twitter and Instagram and the consensus is 9-4 for the outfit on the left! What's your vote?

  1. I really wish I could like skirts but I find that I just look so bulky and short when I wear them! :(

I do like the stripey one on the right though :)

    1. If you find the right fit, length, and fabric, a skirt can make your body look amazing! ; )

  2. I love skirts too, and both shown here are great, especially the left one! I agree, the winter has been brutal this year! I can't wait until spring comes :)

  3. How do the two skirts fit? I've always wanted the Wang one but they look tight around the tush. The flared skirt is simply beautiful! I'm like a 25 waist. Please let me know!

    1. The elastic on the AW skirt is actually a little loose on me, but thanks to how fitted the skirt is throughout, it'll never fall off. If I wear the elastic at my waist, it fits fine. The flared skirt is slightly wider than my natural waist, but I haven't attempted to shrink it or anything, so I don't know how it'll be 'after' wash & dry. The flared skirt may actually fit you off the rack though. : )

  4. We have the opposite problem in California! Lots of sun, and very little rain. Which sounds ideal, but now we are having the worst drought in the past 100 years.

Love the Alexander Wang skirt on you.

  6. Love both outfits! They're perfect for different occasions. Just wondering on the quality of your lace top? And how does it fit?
    Thanks!

    1. The top fits true to size and doesn't stretch. It's surprisingly thicker than I thought it would be! It's not see-through at all. : )

  7. I love the black and white skirt! I actually purchased one on eBay a few weeks ago here. Not sure if it's the same one, but I'm excited for mine to come in!

    1. They look almost identical based on the photos! The skirt is more flared than I'd originally expected, but it's super cute when worn.

  8. I don't usually wear skirts, I prefer dresses, so I'm hoping it'll look nice! It'll be a new experience haha.

I hope it looks as good in real life as it does in the photos. It's eBay so you never know.

  9. i love both looks! i guess it depends on what you're dressing up for--the left is more for a late night out with friends, while the right would work better for a nice spring day (makes me miss summer so much more!)
